This annual competition is organized by the Ottawa Business Journal (OBJ) and the Ottawa Board of Trade, and sponsored by Meldrum Horne & Associates. Surveys were conducted by the Best Companies Group. This is the second consecutive year InGenius was selected as a winner.

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the National Capital Region, that benefit the region’s economy and its work force.

InGenius is a software company that connects leading phone systems and CRMs, with its computer telephony integration solution, InGenius Connector Enterprise. InGenius enables enterprise sales and service teams with the tools they require to deliver exceptional customer experiences, and helps contact centers increase productivity and improve customer satisfaction.

"Winning an Employees’ Choice Award is a special distinction for me, as well as the entire team that strives to make InGenius an enjoyable workplace," said Dale Gantous, InGenius Software CEO. "The true nature of a company isn’t always obvious to outsiders, and it’s easy to make claims about teamwork and an inclusive culture. But when it’s your own employees saying, yes, this place cares about me and it’s an environment that makes me happy, you know what you’ve built is meaningful."

"It’s a great honour for OBJ to present these awards again along with our partners at the Ottawa Board of Trade," said Michael Curran, OBJ publisher. "What really distinguishes these awards, in my mind, is the recipients are determined based on direct input from employees."

As demonstrated in the Board of Trade’s recent report, "Skilled Labour Shortages, Immigrants and Hidden Talent," 63 percent of respondents in the 2018 Ottawa Business Growth Survey reported that talent acquisition and retention is one of their most important business issues.

"Awards programs like Employees’ Choice shine a light on local companies who have achieved a high level of employee engagement," said Ian Faris, Board of Trade President and CEO. "This gives these companies a significant advantage in the war of talent."

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in the National Capital Region;
  • Have at least 15 employees working in the National Capital Region;
  • Be in business a minimum of 1 year.

Organizations from across the region entered the survey process, which consisted of an employee survey to measure their experience. The scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final list of recipients.

The recipient companies will be celebrated at a cocktail awards reception on Monday, September 23 at the Brookstreet Hotel. They will also be profiled in an upcoming issue of the Ottawa Business Journal.
